Mihi mai ki a Anne Rurehe who shares her story of gratitude to Dr Bernard Conlon - along with images of her, her Nanny Kino and her four tamariki.

Here’s what Anne wrote…

Dr Bernard Conlon,

As a kid, I was always told by my grandparents, Joe and Kino Rurehe, ‘If it wasn’t for Dr Bernard Conlon, you wouldn’t be here today.’

You see as a baby I was very sick. My grandparents raised me, pretty much, from birth. They took me to you (Dr Conlon) and you told them, ‘be prepared for the worst, I will be here every step of the way to make sure that doesn’t happen.’

So, because of you I got to have an amazing childhood, I’ve just hit 30 and I’ve had four beautiful kids who I get to guide, to the best of my ability, through life. So, thank you for never giving up!

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe.
